Get Ready! Get Set! Go! SUMMER!

Well I don't know about you but Memorial Day weekend is like the official start to Summer. I love this holiday. I grew up being with my family on every Memorial Day and we always went and decorated our family and friend's graves. There were always stories being told and sometimes there were tears but it was most often a very happy day to celebrate them being apart of our lives. I am thankful to all those who have gone before me and taught me so many things whether from themselves or others. I would also like the say a big thank you to all those who serve or have served in the military. What an honor it is the be apart of this small tight community. We are so blessed for the sacrifices that they make to protect us and the way we live.

We had a really great weekend, probably the best one in a really long time. This winter dragged on for so long it seemed like it was never going to end. But we started the weekend out by going to King's Island. (For those of you not familiar with that it's like Lagoon or a smaller version of Six Flags.) Cam got in free and then I was half off so we knew we would never get another chance so we went. I am not much a roller coaster rider and Jesse is too small to ride most of the rides but Cam can ride any ride without getting sick so I knew that we would enjoy it. It was a Friday and so we knew that it wouldn't be too busy and thankfully it wasn't. It wasn't very warm either but we got to ride the rides that we wanted to ride and we attempted the water park but quickly left because it was just a little too cold to be swimming.

On Saturday we did chores in the morning and then we went to the lake nearby to throw the ball for the dog, she loves swimming as much as we do. I brought Jesse's swimming stuff because I knew that he would want to go swimming but as soon as we got close to water he just took off and charged straight for the water! I had to drop everything to chase him to make sure he didn't drown. He was soaking wet by them time I got to him so I just left him in his clothes and let him play. He really isn't content to sit and play in the water he loves to be in it and swimming around so I hiked up my shorts and got in as far as they would let me. He didn't want to leave but we weren't planning on being there for too long. On our way home we drove past the Drive-in movie theater and saw that they were playing two great movies that we hadn't seen yet so that night we went to the Drive-in. The Drive-in is another fond memory that I have of growing up and I am glad that we are trying to make it one for our family too. I took Cam to his first Drive-in and I am so happy that he likes them just as much as I do. We got to see the new Pirates movie and Thor. Jesse crashed about half way through Pirates and he was out the whole night. I was glad that we took the air mattress for him, he slept so well that way. I haven't been out that late in who knows how long but it was so much fun!

We had a church picnic on Monday and that was fun to hang out with our friends and eat some good food. Jesse got very hot and over heated there running around with all his little friends so we came home and got him a cold drink and then sent him to his nap. We really wanted to go swimming and the pool is only open til 5:30 so got him up after a couple hour nap and headed to pool. Jesse didn't mind getting woke up at all because we were going swimming. He loves jumping into the pool from the side so that is what we did the whole time we were there. We went and had some really good pizza after that and that was the end to a very fun filled weekend.

On a side note I am now done with my first trimester and am very glad too. I think that this pregnancy has been harder so far than Jesse's was. But I am hoping that now that I am in the second trimester that it will be better. We find out what we are having in July right after Jesse's birthday. We are so excited!
